VCS Peer Tutoring Policy
Peer tutoring sessions are one-on-one tutoring sessions led by a VCS high
school student. Peer tutoring sessions meet at least once a week for one hour.
To be paired with a peer tutor, a student must complete the
Tutor Request Form and turn it in to the tutoring coordinator. Once the completed tutor request
form is received, the tutoring coordinator and assigned peer tutor will
contact the student’s parents to set up a tutoring schedule.
The cost of each hour long peer tutoring session is $10. Payment (cash
only) should be brought to each session and given directly to the peer
tutor. Tutoring sessions may be postponed if a balance accrues from unpaid sessions.
If a student is unable to attend a session, he/she must give the peer tutor
at least 24 hours’ advance notice. After three missed sessions without
notice, the student will be removed from peer tutoring.
Students are expected to come to each tutoring session prepared and ready
to learn. They are to remain on task and participate throughout the session.
Disruptive, apathetic, and/or disrespectful behavior will result in removal
from the group.
