Kindy Prep
Is your Future Crusader feeling a little nervous about coming to the big school? Do they need to polish a few skills before coming in the fall? Kindy prep is the class for them. They will be covering beginning Kindergarten skills and getting comfortable with a new learning environment in a smaller class setting. Activities include music, science experiments, hands on math, and beginning reading skills. Enrolling in this class can help your child feel more confident and successful on their first big day of school in August! See you there!

1st-2nd Grade Preparation

Kids in the Kitchen (8:30-9:30)
Boys and girls, this class is for you! Something is cooking in the kitchen and it smells so good! Let your child fill their minds and bellies by signing them up for this scrumptious class! Using math skills to make delicious snacks, students will learn to measure ingredients and double or half measurements from a written recipe. Students will be able to read and write a recipe while also learning about some healthy snacks, food groups, and the various cooking utensils found in the kitchen. Sign up for a yummy time!

Amazing America! (9:30-10:30)
Happy birthday America! It is 4th of July week and what better way to celebrate than to study our great country all week long. Do you want to run for president or write a new law? Come learn about our country's symbols and patriotic traditions. We are proud to be Americans, so sign up today to celebrate the USA!

Escape Room: Classroom Edition (10:30-11:30)
Do you like mysteries and puzzles? This class will put your problem-solving skills to the test. After being locked in a classroom with your teacher and fellow classmates, you will have to solve numerous clues and unfold hidden mysteries to escape. Students will experience escape room challenges filled with curriculum based critical thinking skills while working collaboratively to solve math, language, and other challenging puzzles. Will you be able to crack the code and escape in time?

4th and 5th Grade Math Mania
(July 9 – July 20 Monday, Wednesday, Friday only; 9 AM – 11 AM)

Review of all things Math for incoming 4th and 5th grade students. Students will practice and improve their math fluency in all operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Word problems will become your friend and you will find yourself saying I AM GOOD AT MATH by the end of this session.

2018 MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER CLASSES

These classes are open to non-VCS, incoming and current Village students. However, non-VCS students should check with their current school (prior to enrolling!) to ensure credits will transfer. The prices for all classes will increase by $50 after May 1. To qualify for current pricing, make sure your application is submitted and deposits paid by May 1.

Middle School Study Skills
(June 11 – June 29, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM)

Cost: Before May 1: $475; After May 1: $525

Middle School Study Skills focuses on techniques and learning strategies to improve students’ study skills. Emphasis is on students taking organized notes, time management, test-taking strategies, active listening, and methods of conducting research. In addition, students will review key skills and concepts in core content areas and meet key people that will help them navigate their middle school years.

World History 7
(June 6 – July 3, 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM)

Cost: Before May 1: $950; After May 1: $1,000

In World History 7, students will study world events during the Middle Ages. The major topics are feudalism in Europe, the history of Islam, West African society, imperial China, medieval Japan, early Americas, and the age of Renaissance and Reformation. Students will be assessed through tests/quizzes, classwork, workbook activities/projects, and related activities/questions. During the summer, this course is very fast-paced and homework outside of class time will be expected. Successful completion of World History 7 during summer school will replace the course during the regular school year and will free space in the student's 7th grade schedule.

US History 8
(June 6 – July 3, 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM)

This course explores the history of the United States from first colonies through industrialism. The major topics focus on the birth of the nation, American ideals, westward expansion, civil war, and the Progressive movement. A variety of tests, projects, and reading notes assess student understanding. During the summer, this course is very fast-paced and homework outside of class time will be expected. Successful completion of US History 8 during summer school will replace the course during the regular school year and will free space in the student's 8th grade schedule.

Blended High School English – Credit Recovery
(June 6 – July 3, online/on-campus blend)

Blended English (Credit Recovery) will be a combination of online coursework (Mon-Fri) and on campus (MWF 12:30-2:30). First semester is from June 6 to June 19 (Blended English A). Second semester is from June 20 to July 3 (Blended English B). Blended English is intended to remediate coursework from English 6-12. This course provides remedial instruction in literature, grammar, and composition and is not available for initial credit. Students will be responsible to complete online assignments independently.

Algebra 1 – Credit Recovery

Algebra 1 is intended to remediate coursework from Algebra 1. This course provides remedial instruction in math and is not available for initial credit. First semester is from June 6 to June 19 (Algebra 1 A). Second semester is from June 20 to July 3 (Algebra 1 B).

Economics

Economics is a one-semester course that introduces students to basic economic principles and practices and how economics affect world events and vice - versa. Students will examine the world’s different economic systems, free enterprise, supply and demand, elasticity, competition, market dynamics, economic policy, microeconomics, macroeconomics, price, labor, trade, and banking.

Independent PE
(June 6 – July 31)
Cost:

This is a one-semester (5 credits) independent class, which allows students to participate in activities of their choice and submit logs online documenting fitness activities. This is an online independent course.

PE

This is a one-semester (5 credits) class, which allows opportunities for students to experience different exercises, lessons and activities that give them a well-balanced connection between fitness and health. The goal of this class is to encourage students to explore various methods to ensure lifetime fitness and health. The class includes: classrooms lessons, weight training, fitness, sports and games.

Summer School Child Care offers activities and supervision for your student in the hours before and after summer school classes. Any student on-campus after the 30 minute pick-up window following summer school classes will automatically be moved to child care and parents will be charged. Students may not remain on campus unsupervised. Some optional field trips are offered to students in Summer School Child Care as well, see registration site for prices and details. Cost for students in summer school until noon - $140 per week. Cost for students in summer school until 2:30 - $140 per week.

Day Camp runs Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Scheduled activities are typically from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Day campers participate in games, crafts, group assemblies, and water play, and also have the opportunity to attend weekly field trips (schedule TBD). Bible lessons, bounce houses, free time, and movies complete the Day Camp experience.

Speed and Agility Camp (Grades 3-12)
(June 4 – June 8; 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM)
Cost: $150

Enhance your speed and agility with this week-long intensive training camp. Utilizing Village Christian's facilities, including work in the weight room and on the lower field, participants will learn exercises that can have a lasting effect and take their training to the next level.

Basketball Camp (Grades 3-9)
(Girls: June 18 – June 22 / Boys: Session 1: June 11 – June 15 / Session 2: July 9 – July 13; 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
Cost: $250

Campers will be put through a series of drills, competition, and workouts. The staff's goal is to make each player excel at their natural position, educating the boys on all fundamentals from post play, rebounding, shooting, passing, dribbling, defensive positioning, team play, and executing plays.

Each day, we will focus on two aspects of basketball with teaching points and drills to improve on with a snack break then games to implement what was worked on and learned for that day. On the last day of camp, the campers will receive player evaluations and all workouts learned for the week to take home to continue to improve on their game after camp.

Soccer Camp (Coed – Grades 3-9)

The VCS Soccer Camp is held on the beautiful campus of Village Christian School. Emphasis will be placed on teaching the basic techniques and skills that are essential to improve one’s soccer game. Players will be grouped according to age and ability. We design a friendly environment in which players can develop skills while having fun.

The VCS Soccer Camp boasts some of the best qualified and accomplished coaching staff the area has to offer. We take pride in the quality of the services we offer and the expertise of our trainers.

Football Camp (Boys – Grades 3-8)
(Session 1: June 18 – June 21 / Session 2: June 25 – June 28; 6:00 PM – 8 PM)

VCS Football camps sole purpose is to teach fundamental skills to young athletes using position specific drills. This non-contact camp will teach young football players proper technique when running, catching, throwing, tackling and blocking. Each camper will learn 8 specific skills for each (non-kicking) position on the football field. We assure you that participants will receive instant feedback from actual coaches with years of knowledge and experience.

Volleyball Camp (Girls – Grades 4-9)
(Session 1: June 25 – June 29 / Session 2: July 16 – July 20 / Session 3: July 23 – July 27; 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM)

The VCS Summer Volleyball Camp is a great way for a young athletes to learn the sport of volleyball and have some fun doing it. They will learn the basic skills and tactics of both indoor and beach volleyball. The camp will be run by the current Village Christian coaching staff as well as top college players who are alumni from the Village program. To make things even more fun the current Village high school players will also help. Village has a fantastic sand court right on campus. All campers will receive a camp tee shirt for attending.

Baseball Hitting Academy (Boys – Grades 3-9)

The Village Christian Hitting Academy is a one-week program designed to enhance the skills of the serious baseball player by specialized hitting instructors teaching the fundamental and practical techniques of the game. This camp can be used to build a base of fundamentals or to maintain and refine your current level of play. MAXIMUM 30 PLAYERS. SPACE IS LIMITED.

Middle School Musical, “Shrek Jr!”​

If you’re in Middle School and you love to act, dance and sing, come on out and audition for “Shrek Jr.!” Everyone who auditions will be cast in our show! Performances will be in the Auditorium.

Musical Theater Camp

If you love acting, dancing and singing, this is the perfect camp for you! Students will explore the world of musical theatre and learn a mini show that they will perform at the end of camp on August 3. Our theme this year is “Annie”!

Dance Camps

This camp is for anyone who enjoys dancing or wants to learn how! Students will explore a variety of styles (Hip Hop, Tap, Musical Theatre, Jazz and Ballet) culminating in a final performance on July 13. We will have three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced. Students will be assessed on the first day of camp and placed in a level.

Middle/High School: (July 9-20; 9 am – 2:30 pm, Monday-Friday; Performance on July 13 at 2:30 pm and July 20 at 2:30 pm)

$400 for two weeks; $250 for one week

Whether you are a seasoned dancer or just a beginner, this is a great camp to improve your dancing skills in many genres. We will have two levels: Beginner and Intermediate/Advanced. Assessments will happen the first day and then each student will be placed in a level. This year, we will have Hip Hop, Ballet, Tap and Contemporary.

Shakespeare Bootcamp ​

Here we will have a lot of fun dispelling all hesitation & fear when it comes to speaking Shakespeare. We will sleuth and scan the text just like you would as a student in a conservatory Program. Everyone's journey will be different in this course but you will all leave prepared for success in college auditions, AP English courses, VCS shows and LIFE overall.

Musical Theatre Workshop

This one-week intensive will focus on individual audition pieces for each student and two musical theatre group numbers with choreography. This is a great opportunity to grow your skills in musical theatre. Each student will leave with an audition song prepared for any upcoming auditions and more experience learning choreography.

Introduction to Drumline Camp ​ ​

$150, plus $25 fee for materials

Are you interested in drumming or drumline and don’t know where to start? Are you considering the drumline classes offered at VCS next year and want to see what it is like and get a head start? This camp focuses on the fundamentals of drumming on marching percussion instruments and will familiarize students with the different drumline instruments and techniques. The camp will culminate with a performance for parents at the end of the week of drum cadences.

Rock Band Camp ​

Do you play an instrument or sing? Have you always wanted to be a part of a band? This camp is focused on musicians who already play an instrument and want to take their skills to the next level by performing as a group. We will learn songs together during the week, have some instruction time on your instrument, learn rehearsal techniques and how to play in a band. The camp will conclude with a performance at the end of the week.

Junk Yard Rhythm Drum Camp ​
(July 2-3 and 5-6, 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm in the Band Room; performance on Friday, July 6 at 3:30 pm)
Cost:
$150 plus $10 fee for materials

This program introduces kids to the world of drumming by using everyday household items as percussion instruments! Kids will discover the world of rhythm through musical exploration, beginning music and drum lessons, and learning a few routines and presenting them to the parents at the end of the week.

Private Lessons
(As scheduled throughout the summer)
Cost:
$32 per half-hour lesson, billed every four weeks

Students will benefit from one-on-one instruction from experienced and qualified Christian teachers who are all professionals. Students may choose from bass, drums, guitar, piano, voice, brass, woodwinds, strings, and dance. Once you have signed up for private lessons, a teacher will contact you to find a time that is mutually agreed upon for the lesson. Lessons are scheduled based on the availability of the teacher.
