Sun Valley, Calif. – Village Christian School is proud to announce
the hiring of Marvin Adams as its new Director of Boys Basketball and
Athletic Director. Adams served as a key assistant on Village Christian’s
2014 and 2015 CIF-Southern Section championship teams.
A public meeting with Adams will be held on Wednesday, March 14 at 6 p.m.
in the VCS Chapel.
Prior to the 2015-2016 season, Adams was hired at San Diego State University,
where he was a graduate assistant to legendary Coach Steve Fisher for
two years. The Aztecs won a Mountain West regular-season championship
and competed in the NCAA March Madness Tournament during his time at SDSU.
He also earned his master’s degree in educational leadership while
at San Diego State, before becoming the top assistant at Cal State Northridge
this past season.
Adams graduated from Stoneridge Prep in the San Fernando Valley and played
college basketball at Livingstone College in North Carolina, where he
graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business. He has a distinguished
history as a skills trainer and coach in both the club and camp worlds.
Adams, who starts April 1, will join Director of Football/Athletic Director
Richard Broussard in leading the VCS Athletic Department. They will be
assisted by Associate Athletic Director Kim Hudspeth in support of our
more-than 30 teams across 10 sports.
Longtime Athletic Director, Kevin Aust, has submitted his resignation,
effective the end of the school year. VCS is very grateful for his service
to our student-athletes and our school.
“Coach Adams was an integral part of our recent basketball success
and impressed us with his positive relationships with students and his
commitment to excellence,” said Village Christian Head of School
Tom Konjoyan. “He has had impressive mentorships with top coaches
at the collegiate level and is prepared to lead our program forward.”
