Community Service

Jesus came to seek, to serve, and to save and He started with the poor and oppressed. Part of our educational and spiritual focus in the Biblical Studies Department is to help our students connect the dots between academic content learned in the classroom and the massive needs in the world around us. While our goal is to inspire students to grow into a lifestyle of service, we begin by framing educational requirements around specific community service hours.

Students are asked to invest their required community service hours outside the parameters of the VCS community within an established non-profit organization. Each student will come to an agreement with his or her Biblical Studies teacher for the specifics of the project. Of course, students will likely find their community service so meaningful that they will far exceed the required hours.

  • Juniors and seniors engage in 15 required service hours per semester.
  • Freshman and sophomores engage in 10 required service hours per semester.
