VOCABULARY to memorize for the test:  learn 3 each week

Planet – a large sphere, or ball, that moves around the Sun

Solar system – the Sun, the planets, and other objects

Star – a hot, glowing ball of gases

Asteroid – a large piece of rock or metal in space

Comet – a chunk of ice mixed with rocks and dust moving through space

Meteor – a small piece of ice, rock, or metal that has broken off a comet or asteroid

Telescope – a tool to make far away objects appear closer and larger

Lens – a piece of clear material that affects the path of light rays

Constellation – a group of starts that forms a picture
