Make-Up Work

If the student is absent, or is unable to participate due to sickness or injury, it is the responsibility of the student to make up their absence.  The student can do this by finding a current event or article relating to physical education, sport, or health and giving a summary of that article.  In addition to the summary, the student should provide their opinion of the article.  The summary should be approximately one page in length and should be typed.  Finally, the student should provide a citation of their source in MLA format at the end of their paper.  The student will leave their summary in my box or give it to me in class stapled to the article that was researched.

Participation

Please understand that a students grade is determined, in large part, by their participation in daily activities.  I would define participation as active involvement in teacher directed activities while following all directions given by the instructor.

Uniforms

Students are required to have appropriate attire while participating in Physical Education.

Appropriate attire includes the following:

1.        VCS issued gym shorts

2.        VCS issued gym shirt

3.        Tennis shoes or some type of athletic shoe

For every violation of the above rule students will automatically lose participation for the day.  Multiple violations will lead to detention.

Curriculum

Students will be introduced to many different types of sport in the form of lead-up games.  The purpose of these games is to provide a learning environment where both a healthy level of fitness and fun can be attained.  In addition to kinesthetic learning, students will be asked to study the rules of each sport as well as their history’s.
