Welcome back!  I am looking forward to seeing returning students again, and meeting the new ones!  I am anxious to work on new music, and revisit some old favorites!  

Our first class will be on Tues, Sept. 4th.  The first two days of class will be devoted to reviewing school policies, my expectations of the class, and getting re-aquainted.  We will begin rehearsals on Thurs., Sept. 6th.  Please make sure that your instrument is at school on Thurs. 

Reminder:  Please make sure that you have your instrument clearly labled with your name.  Luggage tags work well for this.  There will be lockers available for those who wish to secure their violins.  I will also have chain locks to secure cellos to their stand!  I will explain all of this the first few days of school!

VILLAGE CRUSADER Middle School Orchestras  2007-2008

OCT. 13^th, 2007–Village Family Fair   Crusader Orchestra- (!st period) and Village Orchestra- (5^th period) will be performing at the fair sometime between 1 and 3pm.  The exact time is to be determined by Mr. Barnts.

NOV. 1^{st h}-NOV 16^th,  2007 Marie Callender Pie Sale- Students pre-sell pies- the proceeds go towards our Forum/Disneyland Festival in May.

Nov 21^st- Pie deliveries in the auditorium. Time to be determined

December 18^th, 2008- Christmas Concert- Mandatory 10 weight grade

           Place- VCS Gym

           Call time- 6:15

           Concert time:7:00

           Dress- Traditional concert attire only will be acceptable.

                   Girls-All Black outfits

                    Long black dress (Mid-calf or longer OR Nice black slacks                           

                    outfit.Tops must be black and must meet VCS dress code

                    and modesty standards. Black shoes and stockings

                       NO short skirts will be allowed!!

                     Boys- Black pants, black socks and shoes

                     White dress shirt with a dark tie

MAR. 18^th, 2008  VCS Symphony Orchestra Concert- Mandatory concert

                        Place- VCS Gym

                        Call Time- 6:00

                        Concert time- 7:00

                        Dress- Traditional concert attire only

 May 9^th, 2008  Forum Music Festival- Students will  perform at Fullerton College in Fullerton, and then travel to Disneyland for the rest of the school day.  I need lots of chaperones to help with the kids!!  The more the better!!

MAY 22^nd, 2008- Tropical Nights Concert-Mandatory 10-weight grade

                        Place- VCS Gym

                        Call time- 5:15

                        Concert time- 6:00 until about 7:15

                        Dress- Hawaiian- (must meet VCS dress code)

 Families bring their Hollywood Bowl style picnic dinners and a dessert to share.  Student’s performing must eat before the concert call time.

40 minutes is the minimum practice time is required each week.  The students receive a letter grade for this.

Students also receive a participation grade each week.  There are also assignments on music theory, history, and vocabulary.  Occasional tests.
