Broadway Bound
K-1st Monday/Wednesday 3:15-4:15; 2nd - 5th Monday/Wednesday 4:30-5:30; MS-HS Tuesday 3-5
Broadway Bound is a class geared towards students who want to perform on the stage. Students will be singing, dancing, and acting in scenes and in musical numbers. Each students will learn proper warm up techniques, improve their improv abilities with games, how to sing correctly, develop characters, how to enunciate on stage, and how to perform within an ensemble. The class will enable students to become more confident in their abilities as performers, and at the end of the 14 week class, a showcase full of songs and scenes will be performed for their parents and peers.
Beginning Acting: K-1st Thursday 3:15-4:15
Beginning Acting is for students who want to explore the world of acting with improv games. Students will also learn the proper use of their voices on stage and the importance of enunciation.
Intermediate Acting: 2nd-5th Thursday 4:30-5:30
Intermediate Acting is for students who want to continue exploring the world of acting. This class will advance their skills in improv technique and scene study.
Advanced Acting: MS-HS Tuesday 5:00-6:00
For students who are wanting to develop their already toned skills. This is a class of focus and technique. Classes will include effective warm up techniques, cold readings, scene study, character developments, improv games. We will explore both stage and film acting - and how to conquer each equally well. A panel of "professionals" will come at the end of the session and watch finished/worked on scenes from each student and give them feedback.
Drama Teacher
Tara Battani Bowles is thrilled to be on staff here at Village Christian Schools. She is a Theatre major/Communications minor from St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas. She currently serves as a musical theatre instructor at Hollywood Youth Theatre in Burbank. and has taught drama as well at Tapestry Dance Company and Dancer's Workshop, both located in Austin, Texas. Tara has done many national commercials and is currently a proud member of Actors Co-op in Hollywood, an Equity waiver Christian theatre company. Email at tarabattani@hotmail.com
