Fine Arts Curriculum
Located just a few miles north of Burbank and east of North Hollywood, Village Christian is near the epicenter of the Hollywood film industry. In such a vibrant arts community, there are plenty of opportunities for students to excel: quality staffing, after-school programs, performance venues, inspiring guest speakers, and informative field trips.
The visual and performing arts programs are an integral part of our philosophy of ministry. The students in the strings, band, choir, drumline, and drama programs are consistently challenged to study the theory and history of their craft, to practice with private instructors, and to work as a unit for the success of the group. The students perform regularly in the community, local churches, and in various festivals and tours.
Our visual arts programs allow students to discover the joy of creative expression through media such as drawing, painting, ceramics, digital photography, and graphic design. Students are given a solid foundation of art history, theory, and fundamentals yet are allowed the freedom to explore their own creative ideas. Student art is displayed throughout the campus, in the annual Fine Arts Showcase, and in our online gallery.
Aspiring film makers will want to join our video production classes, where beginning students will gain experience as writers, directors, and producers of their own short films. The more advanced students can produce films that will be submitted to festivals, create a Senior Video commemorating the significant events of the year, and even participate in broadcasting school news to the student body.
