February 4, 2008

President Debbie Sponsler welcomed everyone to the meeting and led with an opening prayer.

Secretary’s Report

The January minutes were distributed for review.  Lisa Cripps made a motion to accept the minutes as presented.  Kristi Herrera seconded the motion.  A vote was taken, and the minutes were approved.

Treasurer’s Report

The December and January financials, including Budget to Actual and Receipts/Disbursements for both months, were distributed for review.  Leslie Smith made a motion to accept the reports as presented; Allison Weir seconded the motion.  A vote was taken, and the treasurer’s report was approved.

Guest Speakers

• Chris Frankland-Mr. Frankland gave an overview of his life and work experience, in order to familiarize us with his background.  Currently, he teaches high school Spanish and math, and also serves as football coach.
• Mr. Luketic- Our high school principal addressed disciplinary issues involving the high school and asked that any parents with additional concerns or questions contact him directly.

Old Business

• Cram Candy for Students- Debbie Sponsler gave a big thank you to Debbie Boyd for getting the Wonka candy donated for our middle school and high school students.  January meeting attendees were also thanked for their assistance in assembling the candy treats for distribution to our students.

New Business

• Valentine’s Appreciation Lunch for MS/HS Teachers- This event is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 7^th and will be chaired by Debbie Sponsler.  Debbie asked that volunteers sign-up to bring baked goods for this luncheon.
• Valentine’s Day Balloon Sale- Volunteers were requested to assist Debbie on Feb. 8^th and 13^th to count and organize preorders.  Volunteers were also requested to work on Feb. 14^th, to help blow up the helium balloons beginning at 7:00 a.m. and continuing until all orders are completed.

Coming Up Soon

Debbie announced important events on our school calendar and encouraged everyone to take note of these dates.  The Parents’ Meetings to be held on Feb. 19^th, 20^th and 21^st are of significant importance, and Debbie asked that everyone pray for the success of these meetings.  Among several other important dates is the VCS Fine Arts Showcase scheduled for Saturday, March 1^st. 

Continuing Events

• Campus Prayer Walk-Debbie reminded everyone that the Campus Prayer Walk is led by Susan Kendall-Bell every Friday morning at 8:40 a.m.
• Collection for Mission Trip in May- Mrs. Hanna in the Student Store is collecting items to bring to the children at the mission.  Among the things she is requesting are slightly used children’s clothing, new children’s underwear, sports equipment, and simple musical instruments.  Thank you in advance for your donations.
• Our next PTF meeting will be held on March 3, 2008 at 1:15 p.m.
