The final meeting of the 2007-2008 school year was held at President Debbie Sponsler’s home.   After a welcome breakfast, the meeting was opened in prayer, and Vice President Maria Barbario began the meeting. 

The May minutes were distributed for review.  June Sweeney made a motion to accept the minutes as presented; Evelyn Righettini seconded the motion.  A vote was taken, and the minutes were approved as presented.

The May financial report was distributed for review which included the monthly Budget to Actual and the Receipts Disbursements.  In addition, Treasurer June Sweeney distributed the Projected Year End Budget to Actual and a Budget Worksheet for the 2008-2009 school year.  June discussed some of the possible changes that might occur with regards to the 2008-2009 Budget Worksheet.  After reviewing the documents, Judy Dvoracek made a motion to accept the report as presented; Suzy Frankian seconded the motion.  A vote was taken, and the treasurer’s report was approved as presented.

• Mission Trips- Donations are still being collected for the upcoming mission trips to Africa and Argentina.  If interested in making a donation, please talk to Mr. Brache regarding the trip to Africa and Judie Hanna (in the student bookstore) regarding the Argentina trip.
• Middle School Awards Chapel and High School Awards Ceremony – Debbie thanked the chairs of these events (Jackie Steely & June Sweeney; Allison Weir & Teresa Marco, respectively) and noted that both events were highly successful and much appreciated.

• February Fundraiser- An open discussion focusing on next year’s fundraisers included a variety of new ideas and possibilities.  Among the ideas for a February/Valentine’s Day fundraiser were: Giant Sweet Tart Hearts, Chocolate Roses, Giant Fortune Cookies, Singing Telegrams, and Edible Necklaces.
• Other Potential Fundraisers were also discussed: Lei sales for graduating seniors in which leis could be pre-ordered and picked up on graduation day, “Junk Food Day” (other possible names: “Freedom Friday” and “Dollar Day”) a designated day on which PTF would sell candy and other goodies on campus, Coffee Cart which would entail selling coffee on campus on a designated day, a See’s Candy Fundraiser, and Christmas Fundraisers which would include selling Christmas wreaths and Christmas trees that would be pre-ordered and distributed on a specific pre-set date.  Further discussion and plans regarding all fundraisers will be made at the August meeting, along with chairperson sign-ups.
• Open Forum

New Parent Orientation – In order to formally welcome new VCS parents and provide them with helpful information, it was suggested that we plan a New Parent Orientation that will be held in coordination with the new Ninth Grade Student Orientation.  In addition, to encourage parent participation in PTF, Debbie also discussed the possibility of holding quarterly PTF meetings in the evenings to accommodate those parents who are unable to attend our monthly daytime meetings.
