Payroll Assistant

Position

Title: Payroll Assistant

Part-Time, Non-Exempt, 12 month

Reports to: Director of Human Resources

Education/Experience Required/Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent; Degree in business administration, finance, or accounting preferred.

General Responsibilities

This position processes payroll, creates allocation reports. It is responsible for data input, processing, submission, and also the reporting that is required after submission.

Specific Responsibilities

Payroll

  • Verify timecard information for all employees
    • Verify entry of time splits between departments
  • Enter Holiday/Gifted time for eligible employees
  • Input any payroll related changes to pay or benefits
  • Assist with data entry for each payroll accounting allocation & related reconciliations
  • Input stipends in payroll system
  • Answering employees' questions and concerns regarding payroll
  • Investigate and resolve any payroll discrepancies
  • Prepare and submit reports with payroll information to supervisors
  • Creating reports detailing earnings and deductions per payroll
  • Coordinating with the HR department to ensure correct employee data
  • Verify benefits withholdings and time off accrual accuracy

Insurance

  • Prepare monthly Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance allocations & follow up on reconciliations/timing differences
  • Prepare monthly Life Insurance allocation & follow up on reconciliations / timing differences
  • Assist with preparation of ordered coverages/invoice
  • Reconcile withholdings to employee coverage selections
  • Retirement
    • Create Empower accounting allocation after each payroll
    • Prepare Empower report of contributions to employee accounts after each payroll
  • Providing administrative assistance to the HR and Finance departments, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Village Christian School seeks to hire only employees with a vibrant Christian faith. Successful candidates will possess experience in:

  • Experience in data collection, entry and reporting with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Computer savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office- specifically Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of payroll software (Paycom) is beneficial
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with aptitude in problem-solving
  • Working knowledge of relevant legal regulations
  • Ability to work independently and multitask effectively
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Degree in business administration, finance, or accounting preferred

This is a part time, 15-20 hours a week, 12-month position with days/hours being flexible and will be agreed upon with your Supervisor.
