Welcome to High School Athletics
Athletics at Village Christian High School is a vital part of the life of our school. Over half of our student body will compete in athletics this year. Our program is strong and vigorous and we are competitive in the Olympic league. Our teams have won league championships, CIF championships, made numerous CIF semi-final appearances, and placed in many tournaments.
One distinctive that sets athletics at VCS apart from other schools is the fact that we believe Jesus Christ is the foundation on which we build our teams. The intensity and the investment that we use in athletics is an intimate platform in which to discover who we are as individuals and who we are in relationship to Jesus Christ. Village Christian believes the athletic program serves as an important part of the educational experiences of its students.
At VCS, we also ask our athletes to compete to the best of their abilities,
defining success as, knowing they did their best to maximize their potential.
We model our athletic philosophy on 1 Corinthians 9:24, “…run
in such a way as to win the prize.” Our athletes at VCS will be
prepared to compete in a way to “win the race.” Yet, winning
at all costs is not the goal at VCS; our goal is to hire coaches who are
Godly role models, who demonstrate good sportsmanship, and who strive
to instill Christian values in all areas of life, while always striving
for competitive excellence.
The journey that ensues in athletics teaches us how to win, how to lose, how to live, how to engage in life in a way that is meaningful, and finally, how to strive to be what it is that Jesus has called us and created us to be.
Welcome to high school athletics, and go Crusaders!
