Welcome to Middle School Athletics
Athletics at VCS is a vital part of the life of our school. A large percentage of our Middle School student body will tryout and compete in athletics this year. One distinctive that sets athletics at VCS apart from other schools is the fact that we believe Jesus Christ is the foundation on which we build our teams. The intensity and the investment that we use in athletics is an intimate platform in which to discover who we are as individuals and who we are in relationship to Jesus Christ. Village Christian School believes the athletic program serves as an important part of the educational experiences. Realizing that athletics is only one part of the total educational experience offered by the school, athletics must be kept in balance with the rest of the school program.
At VCMS, we also ask our athletes to compete to the best of their abilities, defining success as, knowing they did their best to maximize their ability. We model our athletic philosophy on 1 Corinthians 9:24, “…run in such a way as to win the prize.” Our athletes at VCS will be prepared to compete in a way to “win the race.” We are a competitive MS program, which means not everyone who tries out makes the team. Yet, winning at all costs is not the goal: our goal is to hire coaches who are Godly role models, who demonstrate good sportsmanship, and who strive to instill Christian values in all areas of life, while always striving for competitive excellence.
The journey that ensues in athletics teaches us how to win, how to lose, how to live, how to engage in life in a way that is meaningful, and finally, how to strive to be what it is that Jesus has called us and created us to be.
Welcome to middle school athletics and “Go Crusaders!”
