A

In the past 24 hours, an individual has one or more of the following symptoms of COVID-19: fever (100.4 or higher w/out medication), persistent cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, sudden loss of smell/taste, vomiting and diarrhea.

Do not come to school for at least 10 days from onset of symptoms, AND until they have been without a fever for 24 hours, and improvement in symptoms. Observe the Isolation Guidance issued by the CDC. Please consult your family doctor or pediatrician. IF a COVID-19 test is performed, please refer to Scenario D or E depending on the result.

If tested for COVID-19, please notify the VCS Health Office of testing results.

B

Individual has one or more of the following symptoms: fatigue, chills, body aches, sore throat, or nausea.

Do not come to school until ALL symptoms are resolved for a minimum of 48 hours, without any medications, a doctor’s note is required to return, or follow Isolation Guidance. Should any additional symptoms develop, see box A above.

If tested for COVID-19, please notify the VCS Health Office of testing results.

C

Individual is well, but someone else in the household is either confirmed/being tested/or suspected to have COVID-19

Do not come to school for at least 14 days since the last exposure or until the person being tested is Negative for COVID-19. Observe the Quarantine Guidance issued by CDC and avoid close contact with the symptomatic person. Only return to school if individual does not develop symptoms during that time.

If tested for COVID-19, please notify the VCS Health Office of testing results.

D

My child has tested positive for COVID -19, but has no symptoms.

Do not come to school for the at least 10 days after test was taken. If symptoms develop, follow guidance of box A above.

Please notify the VCS Health Office of testing results.

E

Individual has one or more of the common symptoms of COVID-19 but has tested negative for COVID-19.

May return to school 3 days after symptoms resolve.

Please notify the VCS Health Office of testing results.

F

Individual has had close personal contact with someone (outside of the household) who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Do not come to school for 14 days from the day they had close contact. Follow Quarantine Guidance issued by the CDC. Other family members should avoid close contact with this person. Only return to school if individual does not develop symptoms during that time.

If tested for COVID-19, please notify the VCS Health Office of testing results.

G

Individual has a pre-existing medical condition (high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease or cancer) which puts them in the special risk categories for COVID-19.

Follow the advice of your medical doctor and coordination with the School Principal (or your supervisor), and the VCS Health Office.

If one of my children is sick, do others in the household also need to stay home?

Return to School after Illness

Upon return to school following an absence due to COVID-19 symptoms, students must check in through the Health Office before reporting to class (if they did complete the isolation/quarantine guidelines indicated above).

Only return when all protocol times have been met, or you have a doctor’s note clearing you for school attendance, and the student has fully recovered.

For Section A above:

*If you see a medical doctor, clearance for school will be accepted with a valid medical doctors’ note stating the student/staff/faculty member is not contagious and may attend school.

NOTE: All criteria is subject to change, based on CDC, LA County Department of Public Health Guidance.
