Elementary Beginning Strings
Elementary beginning strings is a performance group focused on teaching instrumental musical skills to students who have never played a string instrument, so there is no experience needed. Instruments available to play in beginning strings include violin, viola, cello, and string bass. The class is designed to teach basic strings skills including reading music, bowing technique, keeping tempo with conductor, and intonation. The group plays beginning orchestral repertoire. Beginning strings also participates in an instrumental competition at Disneyland in the spring. No audition is necessary. This is a full year class that runs for the entire 2018-2019 school year, from September to May.
Grades: 3-5
Mondays and Fridays: 7:15-8:00AM (additional rehearsals may be added near
concert dates)
