Fine Arts Academy

The arts are highly valued at Village Christian School, and this is exemplified through our unique and distinguished extracurricular programs, administered through our Fine Arts Academy. These exciting programs provide K-12 students with more advanced one-on-one education in classes and productions such as acting, musical theatre, dance, and private lessons in a variety of instruments. Our teachers are industry professionals with a passion for education and the desire to help our students grow in their gifts and talents.

Most Fine Arts Academy classes are open to both VCS and non-VCS students.

What the FAA Offers

The Fine Arts Academy administrates Village's extracurricular arts offerings. For a list of these, see the Fine Arts home page. The programs noted with an asterisk (*) fall under this program.

In addition, the FAA also offers private lessons in a variety of instruments and disciplines, including brass, dance, drums, guitar, piano, strings, voice, woodwinds, and ukulele.

CURRENT OFFERINGS - SPRING 2024 OPEN NOW!

HIP HOP: 

This class is a fun and engaging way to keep your student active in dance. They learn a variety of warm-ups, dance games, and choreography. 

Location: Performing Arts Room (PAR) formally known as the Band Room  | Cost: $150* | Instructor: Virginia Trent

Attire: Comfortable street clothes that your student can move easily in and tennis shoes with socks. Hair pulled back away from the face.

Recital will take place on May 11.

Grades JK-2 | Wednesdays: 3:15 – 4:00 PM.           Grades: 3-5 | Wednesday: 4:15 – 5:15 PM

 

*Recital fee included in cost - each student will receive a costume, a digital copy of recital performance, a recital portrait, and photo of the class

ELEMENTARY:

Royal Academy Camp

Want to be a princess and prince for a week and learn all about being a part of God’s Royal Kingdom? This camp is the perfect fit for our little boys and girls entering JK - 1st grade. They will learn about characters from the Bible each day, work on a craft project, and explore dance, creative movement, and various athletic activities! 

 

Grades: Entering JK - 1st

Dates: June 10-14, 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM

Cost: $300 (early bird) $350 after April 26

 

What to Bring:

Comfortable clothes they can move in

Closed toed shoes

Refillable water bottle

Snack for each day 

 

We will provide:

Accessories and craft supplies

 

Please note that if you will need childcare before or after camp, you must register for a full week of day camp.

 

Fun in the Sun Choir Camp! 

Do you like to sing? Join us for elementary summer choir! This camp is focused on finding the fun in singing. Students will learn some of the fundamentals of music theory and sight reading while singing some pop tunes as a group. This camp will end with a choir showcase for family and friends on Friday, June 14 at 3:30 PM.

Dates: June 10 - 14, 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM

Grades: Entering 2nd - 5th grade

Cost: $300 (early bird) $350 after April 26

Students will need to bring: 

  • A water bottle and a snack every day
  • A 3-ring binder dedicated to this camp

Elementary Musical Theatre Camp 

If you love acting, dancing, and singing; this is the perfect camp for you! Students will explore the world of musical theatre and learn a condensed version of a show. This is a great introduction to what we will be putting on in the 2024-25 school year. It is for students entering K through 5th grade.

Grades: Entering K - 5th grade 

Dates: July 22-26, 10 AM - 3 PM (2nd - 5th), 12 PM - 3 PM (K - 1st)

Cost

  • K-1st:  $300 (early bird) $350 after April 26
  • 2nd-5th: $400 (early bird) $450 after April 26

Performance: 1:30 PM in the Kendall Pavilion on Friday, July 26

What to Bring: 

Comfortable clothes they can move in

Closed toed shoes

Refillable water bottle

Sack Lunch (2nd-5th), Snacks (K-1st)

Please note that if you will need childcare before or after camp, you must register for a full week of day camp. If you have a K-1 student (with an older sibling who is also in the Musical Theatre Camp) who will need child care from 10 AM until 12 PM when their camp begins, please email fineartsacademy@villagechristian.org.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL:

MS Dance Camp 

This camp is dedicated to refining your skills in musical theatre dance.

Grades: Entering 6th - 8th grade  

Dates: July 22-26, 10am-12pm 

Cost: $200 (early bird) $250 after April 26

What to Bring:

Dance attire

Jazz shoes

Refillable water bottle

 

Musical Theatre Audition Workshop (6-8th grade)

Learn and drill the successful steps to an audition! This one week intensive will focus on individual audition pieces for each student. There will be two, 2 hour group sessions on Monday and Friday from 10 AM - 1PM. Each student will additionally receive 1 hour of private coaching that will take place Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. (Scheduling for privates will happen after the student is registered). After this workshop, students will have 1 song to add to their audition song book that they can use for their auditions this next school year! 

Dates: June 10-14

Times: 10 AM - 1 PM 

Grades: Entering 6th - 8th grade

Cost: $250 (early bird) $300 after April 26

HIGH SCHOOL:

HS “Build Your Book” Camp

This class is a great opportunity to create a vocal book with range. Songs will be chosen for each student which will capitalize on their unique talents, gifting and particular casting. Each student will be given 2-3 audition cut songs which can show off the students vocal range, different acting abilities and vocal styles. This is a great opportunity to acquaint young artists to different aspects of themselves and the art form. Some examples of this range are comedic and dramatic roles, uptempo or ballads, legit and belt sounds. This class differs from the Audition workshop which concentrates solely on casting for the upcoming VCS production. In this session, students will quickly be able to put their best foot forward in any audition as their musical theater song book will represent their immediate casting.

Grades: Entering 9-12th Grade

Cost: $250 (early bird) $300 after April 26
