International Admissions

Established in 1949, Village Christian School is a private, non-denominational, Christian educational institution consisting of an elementary, middle and high school, on a shared beautiful, secluded 30-acre campus.

VCS is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and is the first California school admitted to the Council on Educational Standards and Accountability. In 2003, VCS was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the United States Department of Education, acknowledging our student test scores in the top tier of national scores.

Our high school students are accepted into prestigious colleges and universities including Cornell, Stanford, Pepperdine, UCLA and USC, to name a few. Ninety-eight percent of our graduates attend college after high school.

For decades, Village Christian School has been pleased to welcome international students to our beautiful campus in Los Angeles, California to experience life as American students.

Village Christian is a unique place, a dynamic community of scholars, athletes, and artists all thriving to help international students succeed in their academic and life goals.

Our international students are nurtured by caring professionals who excel at inspiring students. They employ cutting-edge curriculum within innovative research-based programs. Our newly remodeled campus hosts all the activities a student could wish for in a safe, christian, and family-orientated atmosphere.

Academic Life at Village

One of the distinguishing marks of our international program is the individualized counseling that is offered to our international students. The small student to counselor ratio allows for each student to gain academic, social, emotional, and spiritual support. Most notably, the international student academic counselor works to help each student acclimate to the American school system, navigate coursework and daily demands, as well as provide one-on-one college counseling to ensure that students are successful through their time at VCS and beyond. Working in conjunction with the international club, the counseling department innovates new ways to help international students maximize their time in school by engaging in school events, traditional celebrations, and college tours to local universities.

International Student Life

I am thrilled to hold the role of International Student Life Coordinator at Village Christian Schools, where I also proudly serve as the EVIS Principal Designated School Official. With a rich background in education, I bring over fifteen years of experience in teaching Mandarin Chinese to middle and high school students, cultivating their language skills and cultural awareness. In addition, my extensive twelve-year involvement in working with international students has equipped me with a deep understanding of their needs, aspirations, and challenges. Leading the International Student Boot Camp to warmly welcome new students from abroad and serving as an advisor for both the Chinese and International Clubs allows me to further enrich the cultural exchange and growth within our school community. I am dedicated to fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for our diverse student body, ensuring that their academic journey is enriched and their cultural integration is seamless.

Hear from our students

Throughout my time in high school, I have had the unique experience of being involved in VCS’ International Club. International Club is the largest VCS club on campus to date, and focuses on helping our international students from abroad transition into life in America. By getting to know each club member and helping bridge the communication between many language barriers, I have enjoyed building a unique community. In addition to many activities and field trips to learn about both American and foreign cultures, together we spent time in community outreach. Last winter, a group of International Club members and leaders volunteered with Operation Christmas Child, an organization aimed at providing Christmas gifts to children in developing nations. For many international students, community service was a bizarre concept. However, the human heart is giving and I personally saw the transformation of many peers grow to become socially conscious. My time spent with International Club has been truly rewarding, and I look forward to another amazing year.

Our school’s international club is a special place for me. It provides some meaningful activities, cultural learning, and volunteer opportunities for all the international students. I especially like the cultural learning time in the international club; we could grasp different custom and culture around the world. My mother and I prepared Japanese foods and toys when I am in charge for Japan theme; all the international students enjoy that. I’m glad our school gives us an amazing club to explore more about different cultures, which is also essential part of high school life.
