  • On April 30, 2016, guests to Village Christian School stepped into a land far, far away for the sixth annual Dinner Auction – “Once Upon a Time.”

Live performances and award presentations highlighted this special evening, which saw the VCS family come together to raise funds for Teachers’ Compensation Initiatives and the Tuition Assistance Fund.

“I am so grateful for the outpouring of philanthropy that was demonstrated by not only the 300 guests who attended, but the hundreds who donated auction items to and volunteered for our fairy tale event,” said Head of School Tom Konjoyan.

Leading the night’s awards were James and Corine Nutting, who were named the 2016 Philanthropists of the Year.

“We give because we have been inspired by so many great role models,” said James Nutting. “Many of you out there have set a standard that is really hard to live up to, but if all of us work together, we can really make this a great school.”

Following an emotional introduction by Middle/High School Principal Bruce Osgood, VCS Associate Head of School for Academic Life Ray Endacott received this year’s Crusader of Character Award.

“I’m very grateful for this honor,” Endacott said. “But for me, the greatest honor has been to work with so many people for so many years, whose first priority has always been to give deeply of themselves to help others thrive.”

The fairy tale-themed event was hosted by stage veteran Robert Patteri and included performances by Grammy-nominated recording artist Deana Carter, VCS Fine Arts Dean Natalie Taylor, VCS Theatre Arts Director Thom Babbes, and many of our talented students.

Before entering the ballroom-inspired Kendall Pavilion, guests walked through The Shield, which was transformed into an opulent palace garden, complete with horse-drawn carriage and living statues.

Live and silent auctions, a new mega opportunity tuition drawing, and “Stand Up For Teachers” donation opportunities completed the exciting lineup of festivities.

Thank you to everyone who made the event a fairy tale of an evening.
