  • It is my honor to announce that Dana Mikels has been promoted to Middle School Principal. The growth of our Middle School, in conjunction with the outstanding work of Mrs. Mikels over her past 19 years of service to VCS, made this an easy decision for us. Mr. Osgood, Mrs. Chespak, Mr. Endacott, our Board, and I are convinced that Mrs. Mikels and our amazing faculty and staff will continue to build on the success of the Middle School Adventure going forward.

Mr. Osgood will remain as the Principal of the High School and will work in concert with Principal Mikels and Principal Chespak to help our school live out its mission to help students thrive!

For those of you who don't know, Mrs. Mikels has served VCS in numerous roles over the years, including as a teacher, dean, coach, and assistant principal. Additionally, she was an outstanding student at our school, while her father, Dave Wilson, was a long-time Principal at VCS and her mom, Charlotte Wilson, was a long-time employee as well. It is not a stretch to say Mrs. Mikels has VCS in her blood.

She has two Master's Degrees in Curriculum and Instruction as well as Educational Leadership. We are fortunate to have an educator with the background, expertise, and passion for our school.

Please join me in congratulating Mrs. Mikels on her promotion.

    Tom Konjoyan
    Head of School

Below please will find messages from Mr. Osgood and Mrs. Mikels that were shared with our faculty and staff.

    From Mr. Osgood:
These are exciting times at Village! Over the past seven years, we have seen great growth in enrollment, academic achievement, teaching and learning, and in the hearts of our students. As we have grown in all these areas, we have offered more opportunities for students. I believe that we have come to a place where there is a need for a greater intentional and specific focus at each level. Fortunately, we have the personnel to make this happen. It is with great excitement that I share this with you. Beginning July 1, I will concentrate on High School and the tremendously talented DanaMikels will become the Principal of the Middle School! It’s about time! Dana lives and breathes Middle School and will take it to new heights. While we will still function as a 6-12 system in many ways, Dana’s expertise in and focused attention on Middle School will create new and exciting opportunities and direction. I am looking forward to being able to focus on one level and to seeing all that we will accomplish next year. I also look forward to a continued close working relationship with Dana.

    From Mrs. Mikels:
A wise person once told me, “If you love Middle School students, then you should work with Middle School, because it is a gift -- not everyone has that gift.” For the past 19 years I have found myself connected to the Middle School Department here and that is a gift to me. I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to serve as the Assistant Principal for the past four years and it is with great anticipation that I now move into a new role. I am excited for this new chapter of growth and opportunity with the Middle School Department. I am looking forward to further developing and working toward an Adventure that helps students thrive, and to serving all of you. I am thankful for the opportunity and look forward to all that God has for Village in the coming years.
