VCS Adds Ebenhack as Athletic Director
SUN VALLEY – Village Christian School has hired Jarod Ebenhack as Director of Athletics.
Ebenhack, a track and field/cross country coach and the current Athletic Director at Desert Christian in Lancaster, will work alongside fellow Athletic Director Richard Broussard to provide leadership and organization to a thriving Athletic Department.
“I'm excited to be joining a program that just brought home a CIF State title in girls volleyball and qualified girls cross country to state,” Ebenhack said. “I believe that we must prepare to win, and give our athletes the best coaching and mentoring possible, and then we can leave the outcome of our games in God's hands. … I want to make sure the coaches can focus on coaching and not get bogged down with extra admin duties.”
Ebenhack, who earned his Master’s in Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University, is slated to start January 8, 2019.
During his time at Desert Christian, the Knights enjoyed a number of Desert Mountain League championships, as well as a CIF-SS championship and a CIF State title in cross country.
As a coach, Ebenhack was named the 2016 Broward County Coach of the Year for Girls Track and Field, racking up district and regional championships at Highlands Christian Academy in Pompano Beach, Fla. from 2012 to 2016 before taking over at Desert Christian.
“I strongly believe in developing godly character through sports,” said the USA Track and Field Certified Coach. “I know lessons learned as a high school distance runner kept me going strong through several tumultuous years as a missionary in Haiti. Athletes who give it their all in high school and are able to overcome insane challenges on the field, court, or track can take those lessons with them to overcome bigger life challenges.”
Ebenhack served as a missionary in Haiti from 2002 to 2010, primarily working with Kids Alive International as a school administrator and Children’s Home Coordinator.
Said Head of School Tom Konjoyan: "I am thrilled that a man with the Christian character and athletic background of Mr. Ebenhack has agreed to join our Athletic Department. I am incredibly impressed with his integrity, organizational skills, coaching resume, and passion for introducing students to Jesus. He will be a great complement to Coach Broussard and the rest of our Athletic Department."
