ANNUAL FUND SPOTLIGHT: Campus Safety
The security of every student is of the utmost importance here at Village Christian School, and in the last year, Annual Fund resources have helped facilitate the addition of numerous exciting safety features.
"We are investing strategically in the best solutions for our school," said Head of School Tom Konjoyan. "Providing a safe environment for our students to learn is a top priority, and we are so thankful for everyone who has and is willing to partner with us to make the school even more secure."
One of the most prominent new campus enhancements is the security booth that was made possible by generous donations of labor and materials from VCS parents in addition to Annual Fund money.
The booth is equipped with a new check-in system that ensures our expanded campus safety staff knows who is coming through the VCS gates.
Additional cameras have also been added and upgraded across the campus, further assuring we have eyes on all corners of VCS.
In addition to these important security features, Village remains committed to emergency preparedness.
On October 18, VCS joined schools across the globe in the world’s largest earthquake drill – The Great California ShakeOut. Every student, teacher, and staff member participated in the emergency simulation. According to shakeout.org, Village was among the 10,912 K-12 schools participating.
The Great California ShakeOut augmented the regular rotation of lockdown and fire drills already in place to ensure the VCS community is ready for crisis situations.
