Dear Elementary School Parents,

It’s time for Race for Education!

Race for Education is our annual jog-a-thon. This year will be our 18th Annual Race. We are very excited to be able to offer this fun, all-elementary event. We are pleased to welcome our parents and grandparents back this year as we run laps and spend time on the obstacle course.

Race is sponsored by the VCS Elementary School PTF to raise funds for items not typically covered by the school’s operating budget. Funds from previous Races have paid for the Makerspace, the Science Lab, new computers, PE equipment, new sound and lighting for the Chapel, and also helped to pay for our new Library.

This year we have the privilege of helping to refurbish the Child Care Room. We envision this room being used during the day, as well as after school, to provide another fun, up-to-date learning space for our students. We will also be refurbishing the aides lounge to better meet the needs of this amazing group of treasured staff. Any additional monies collected will be added to The Legacy Campaign to help elevate our campus and programs.

We believe that God will provide beyond our wildest dreams and will continue to bless VCS through our amazing parents. Please share the sign-up info with your family members and friends to ensure your student feels supported and encouraged. We continue to stand in humble awe of what our mighty God will accomplish through your generosity.

Race for Education utilizes Pledgestar, a convenient web-based fundraising system that makes it easier for you to request support from family and friends – and for them to make secure online donations.

After you register, send your link to five or more people by February 10 to qualify for a special popsicle party on February 11.

Enter your name and email address; click “Submit”
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete registration

When you finish, the system emails pledge requests to your family and friends. You will be notified each time someone pledges, allowing you to track your progress online.

What is the Race for Education?

Race for Education is our annual Elementary jog-a-thon. Students walk or run laps around a 1/6th-mile area for approximately one hour. There is also an obstacle course. Students are divided into teams based on grade level, with grades JK-2 completing their laps in the first race and grades 3-5 completing their laps in the second race.

What is the purpose?

This event is a fundraiser that provides a fun way for students to participate in advancing their own education. This program helps VCS Elementary PTF raise funds for needed items that are not typically covered by the school’s general operating budget. Funds from previous Races have paid for the science lab, classroom SMART Boards, new computers, PE equipment, a new sound and lighting system for the Chapel, as well as many of our flex seating opportunities. This year, we are partnering with The Legacy Campaign to support the initiatives that will benefit our elementary students and teachers both now and in the future.

How does it work?

Race for Education utilizes an online platform run by Pledgestar. This service allows your child to collect sponsors by sharing a unique weblink. Friends and family can click the link and offer support as a pledge per lap or as a flat donation. Cash and check donations made out to Village Christian School will also be accepted through the Elementary Office.
